Praharaj misses ton in drawn Cooch Behar Trophy match

Orissa collected three points by virtue of taking a 39-run first innings lead against Kerala in their rain-marred Cooch Behar Trophy (u-19) Plate Group-A match, which ended in a draw at Ravenshaw University ground in Cuttack today. The four-day match was reduced to three day as play was completely washed out on the third day.

Electing to bat, Kerala surprised Orissa by compiling a healthy total of 328, which included two half-centuries. However, giving a strong reply Orissa made 367 to take the crucial first innings lead. Four Orissa batsmen _ Sumitosh Praharaj, Pallabendu Mishra, captain Abhilash Mallick and Sujit Lenka _ hit a half-century each. Praharaj was unlucky to miss his century by one run. His 128-ball knock was studded with 13 fours and two sixes.

The match ended with Kerala making 157 for four in the second innings. This was Orissa`s third match in the Plate group and they now have nine points in their kitty. Orissa would next meet Himachal Pradesh at Cuttack from December 11 to 14.
